How to make Joan's Never Fail Chocolate Cake:

Ingredients |
| 225g (8oz) |
margarine |
| 225g (8oz) |
light brown sugar |
| 340g (12oz) |
plain flour |
| 3/4 pint |
milk |
| 55g (2oz) |
cocoa |
| 2 |
eggs |
| 2 tablespoons |
syrup |
| 2 teaspoons |
baking powder |
| 2 teaspoons |
bicarb |
Topping |
|
| 85g (3oz) |
butter unsalted |
| 85g (3oz) |
margarine |
| 175g (6oz) |
icing sugar |
| 2 desert spoons |
cocoa |
Method
Prepare and line 2 - 7inch cake tins. Pre-heat ovene at Gas mark 4. Just mix everything together and you can't fail and cook for 45-1 hour until firm and springy to touch.
For the topping, beat all ingredients together and spread on top of cooled cake.
Freezes great but dont freeze the topping, do that after defrosting.
