How to make Chocolate Easter Nests:
Quantity |
Ingredients |
| 200g (7oz) |
milk chocolate |
| 25g (1oz) |
butter or margarine |
| 90g (3.25oz) |
shredded wheat cereal, broken up by hand |
| 60g (2oz) |
chopped nuts |
| |
Sugar coated chocolate eggs |
Method
Break up the chocolate and put it in bowl with the butter or margarine. Melt it gently in a microwave or put the bowl over a pan of gently simmering water until the chocolate melts. Stir, set aside and allow it cool for a few minutes. While it is cooling, crumble the shredded wheat into another bowl and mix the chopped nuts in to it. Either lightly grease a baking tray or line it with greaseproof paper. This is the messy bit! Mix the contents of the two bowls together with your hands. Put handfuls of the messy mixture on a baking tray and shape each handful into a nest shape. Set the tray aside in a cool place for an hour or so and the mixture will set hard. Fill the nests with half a dozen sugar-coated chocolate eggs. This mixture should make about six nests.
This recipe is a very nice one to use at Easter time and kiddies love to help make it!
