Method
Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4. Use
vegetable oil to grease a square tin. Put margarine,
sugar, flour, cocoa powder and the eggs in a bowl and
beat well until thoroughly mixed and smooth. Spoon
into the prepared cake tin and level the surface.
Bake for about 30mins. Cool in the tin for 5 mins,
then loosen the edges with a knife and transfer to
a wire rack. Leave the cake to cool completely. Cut
the cake into 16 even-size bars.
To make the topping, place the butter in a bowl, sift the cocoa powder and icing sugar and beat until smooth. Spread the topping evenly over the cakes. Add a strip of liquorice to each cake and decorate with Smarties for the dominoe dots.
