How to make chocolate date cake:

Plain drinking chocolate |

Milk |
| 75g (3 oz) |
Dates |
| 100g (4 oz) |
Butter |
| 125g (5 oz) |
Sugar |
| 2 small |
Eggs, beaten |
Method
Pre-heat oven to 375 or Gas Mark 5. Grease
and line a 6 inch round cake tin. Sieve together
the flour, baking powder and salt. In a cup, dissolve
the chocolate powder in the milk. Stone the dates
and cut into two or three pieces. Rub together the
butter and flour until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Add the dates and sugar. Pour the eggs and milk/chocolate
mixture into the centre, stir well. Place into tin
and cook for 1 hour. Cool the chocolate date cake
on a wire rack.
