Method
1. Lightly grease and line an 8 inch cake tin.
2.Place butter, sugar, dark chocolate and syrup in a saucepan and heat gently until mixture is well blended and smooth. Remove from heat and leave to cool. Then cut into squares
3.Beat eggs and flavouring. Whisk in the cooled mixture.
4.Sieve in the flour and cocoa powder and carefully fold into the mixture using a metal spoon or spatula.
5.Add in the chopped nuts.
6.Spoon the mixture into the cake tin. Bake in a preheated oven 180 C/ 350 F/ gas mark 4 for 25 minutes or until the edge of the cake is begining to shrink from sides of tin. The inside will still be quite stodgy and soft to touch.
7.Leave the cake in the tin to cool completely.
It's even tastier if you top each square with melted chocolate, about 100 grams of milk chocolate should be enough. Enjoy.
