Method
Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas Mark 4 and lightly grease a 18 x 18 x 5cm square tin. Place the butter, chocolate and brown sugar in a saucepan and stir over a medium heat until the chocolate melts. Remove from the heat, cool for a minute or two, then whisk in the eggs. Add the flour, cocoa powder and baking powder and mix until smooth. Pour this mixture into the baking tin. Beat the cream cheese and caster sugar together. Spoon this randomly over the chocolate mix. Use a knife to swirl the cheese mixture into the chocolate to create a marbling effect. Bake for 35-40 minutes. Leave to cool in the tin, then mark into squares.
You can add some chopped walnuts or dried fruit to the chocolate mix before baking. Alternatively these can be used with some grated chocolate to decorate the top of the brownies before serving.
